Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk became a venue for meeting dedicated to implementation of Sakhalin Indigenous Minorities Development Plan - a partnership programme implemented by Sakhalin Energy, Regional Council of the Authorised Representatives of the Sakhalin Indigenous Minorities and the island government.

Sakhalin Energy held another dialogue with stakeholders in the Sakhalin Regional Universal Scientific Library. The meeting was arranged as part of 2019 Sustainable Development Report preparation.
Sakhalin Energy has summed up the work of the Energy Social Initiatives Fund in 2019. The ceremony held in the Sakhalin Regional Art Museum gathered together numerous grantees. Five of them were awarded honourable titles.
On 1 February 2020 the icebreaker Kapitan Khlebnikov was put into operation. The vessel has been used to ensure safe navigation of large-capacity tankers and gas carrier vessels during the ice season since 2009 when Sakhalin Energy brought into operation the first LNG plant in Russia. This year the works to ensure safe hydrocarbons loading in Prigorodnoye will last for 2 months.
Anton Chekhov’s 160th birthday, which was celebrated on January 29, 2020, saw a presentation of the book ‘Anton Chekhov. Sakhalin Island. Facsimile Reproduction and Optoelectronic Reconstruction of the Manuscript.’ The event took place in Moscow, in the Rumyantsev Hall at the Pashkov House currently owned by the Russian State Library.
Sakhalin Energy and TMK met in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk on 22 January to discuss the implementation of the long-term contract for supply of premium OCTG pipes until 2022. As a result of the meeting, the Parties signed the joint Technical Activities Programme and Schedule focusing on the development of TMK services and technical support for pipes supply to Sakhalin-2 Project.
In January, Sakhalin Energy announced the start of applications submission for the next grant competition of the Energy Social Initiatives Fund. Non-profit organisations and institutions registered and operating on Sakhalin are eligible to participate in the competition.
